Savyonim Elderly Center

In Netanya there are more than 34,000 elderly residents of which 3,400 are Holocaust survivors. 1,816 of the Holocaust survivors are treated by the Welfare Dept. Today's elderly population is different from those of the past; they are mobile, educated, active and involved in political and social issues. Gerontologists and studies stress the importance of activities and involvement at this age, which contribute to a better quality of life.

The previous Elderly Center was situated on the third floor of an old run-down building near the market place in Netanya. This location (and space) was unsuitable for senior citizens' needs. The new club is bigger and more spacious than the previous one, allowing space for additional members to partake in the activities and programs offered. The building is situated at a convenient location in the city center, making it accessible to the elderly as it is near the local banks, shops, supermarkets and more.

Upon retiring and experiencing various physical changes, senior citizens begin a new stage in life. We all have a moral, financial and social obligation towards this community. By offering a sequence of good, high-quality services we respond to their social, functional and therapeutic needs.

The elderly members of the club see the club as their second home and come here weekdays in the mornings and afternoons to partake in the various activities and programs offered and to meet with their friends. This is the only club in Israel, which also operates during the Succoth and Passover holidays and is open throughout the summer when all members are present. offer various activities and services to the elderly population, such as: social activities (events, lectures, social games), exercise classes, computers, enrichment activities (languages, art, theater, choir, creative activities (eg: baking, handicrafts, etc), alternative medicine, library & study rooms, bridging unit, cafeteria.
