Ari's Bar Mitzvah

In honor of his Bar Mitzvah, on August 25th 2013,  Ari decided to run a 3 on 3 basketball tournament for over 60 kids from Detroit at the JCC of Metropolitan Detroit in West Bloomfield. This tournament was planned to raise funds for the Netanya Hoops for Kids program.

The Netanya Hoops for Kids is an integral part of the community serving youth from all over Netanya and utilizes Barak Netanya’s basketball team’s standing in the community and through the Netanya Foundation provides funding for school supplies, after school lunch programs and building renovations. In addition, the children that participate in this program learn all about teamwork, communication, goal setting and healthy life skills.

Ari Singer and his brother Gabe once volunteered at the Netanya Hoops for Kids program in December 2012 during his family’s visit to Israel.

Ari told everyone at the event about his experience coaching and playing basketball with children-at-risk in Netanya and chose to manage the event and not participate in the game.

Netanya Hoops for Kids Director David Lasday, who had the opportunity to attend and participate in the event first hand, said, "The Singer's are a very special family. Having them connect with our kids in Israel and then having Ari organize an event like this that both raises awareness and money for our program, and organically connects children to Israel through their passion for basketball, is amazing.

NHK is about building community through sport and we thank Ari for helping us do that both in Netanya and in Detroit." Ari and his family were able to raise over $3,600 through his Root Funding Campaign. The funds will be used to provide at-risk children in Netanya with sports equipment and school supplies.
